Yvonne Jones
Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador has been elected Chair of the Liberal Newfoundland and Labrador Caucus. Ms. Jones is delighted with her new role.
Ms. Jones has deep roots in the Liberal Party and strong ties to the organization. She served provincially as the Liberal MHA for Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair for 13 years and was the Provincial Liberal Leader before entering into federal politics. As the first female MP for Labrador, Ms. Jones has been very busy attending to constituency issues and continues to work for the betterment of the people of Labrador. Ms. Jones offered these comments on her appointment today.
“I am honoured to be given the task as the Newfoundland and Labrador Caucus Chair and thank my fellow colleagues in having the confidence to vote me as their Chair,” said Ms. Jones. “Newfoundland and Labrador is the youngest province in our beautiful country. We have a robust economy, massive resources, and strength in the people that live here. We are talented, we have character, and we love our province like no other. I am proud to represent the people of Labrador in Ottawa and proud to Chair a caucus of strong, talented Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.”
The Newfoundland and Labrador Liberal caucus is made up of federal Members of Parliament and Senators from Newfoundland and Labrador. Currently the caucus has 7 members, which include:
MP’s – Scott Andrews, the Hon. Gerry Byrne, Judy Foote, Yvonne Jones, Scott Simms, along with the Hon. Senator George Baker, and Senator George Furey.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Caucus will meet regularly to discuss issues of importance and relevance to the people of the province.
