MP Yvonne Jones announced today a Labrador-wide petition, calling on the PUB disallow Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) to raise electricity rates in Labrador.
“Today we start fighting back. Today we say no to higher electricity rates, and today we say to Hydro ‘you can’t build the Muskrat Falls Hydro Project on the backs of Labradorians.’ The hard-working people of Labrador deserve compensation for the resources being taken from the land, we should not have to pay for the resources to be removed as well,” said Ms. Jones. “I encourage everyone to stand up for Labrador, to sign the petition and send a strong message to Hydro.”
