For Immediate Release
Congratulations to all graduates from Labrador
June 13th, 2016
Over the past several weeks, nearly 60 students from Labrador attended Memorial University convocation ceremonies in Corner Brook and St. John’s. Even more graduate from universities in Canada and internationally, as well as the even higher number that graduate with trades and professional training programs every year. From Nurses, to a range of undergraduates, Masters, and Doctorates Labradorians are achieving more, and more often, than ever before.
As well, 330 Labrador students have completed high school this spring and I want to congratulate each and every one of them. I encourage everyone to pursue higher learning, whether that be through university or through skilled trades. The investment in yourself is worth it and I wish you the very best.
Throughout University and college, young Labradorians have long served as ambassadors to our province and the world – educating others as they seek higher education. Many will return home with a new set of eyes, and a new set of tools to help grow build and grow the capacity of our communities paving the way for the next generation. Others will venture out into the world, adding our unique Labrador perspectives and cultures to the mosaic of Canada and beyond.
“Labradorians are a hardworking, richly cultured people with a deep sense of connection to our homes and our people. No matter where Labradorians go, we will continue to better the people and communities around us. “
“I am extremely proud of our Labrador youth that venture out and broaden their horizons every year, and am excited for the challenges and opportunities that are now before you, home or abroad – congratulations to all the graduates across Labrador.”
