Labrador is a land in great mourning following an accident that has taken the lives of four residents traveling on the Trans Labrador Highway Route 510. Tributes and messages of sympathy have been pouring in from communities across Newfoundland and Labrador for the families and communities impacted. I wish to express my deepest condolences to the families and friends affected by this event. When a tragedy such as this hits a small community, like those in Labrador, the impact is tremendous, the heartache is felt by all around and sadness grips the entire community.
Sadly today, I also express sympathy to the Morris Family of Cartwright who lost their son in a tragedy late yesterday. This marks 13 tragic deaths in Labrador in the past month.
I encourage you all to support those around you in the days and weeks to follow. These tragedies that have impacted all of our communities in Labrador will require time and support to heal and cope with such deep heartache and pain.
On behalf of all Labradorians, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy and support to all that are impacted at this difficult time. We remember each of you with love. I am Asking Labradorians to Hold each other close despite the miles. Thank you to all the first responders, you go beyond the call of duty in the most difficult situations, thank you for your knowledge, skills and commitment.
Sincerely,
Yvonne Jones
MP for Labrador
