The Government of Canada is committed to renewing vital infrastructure that supports the growth and development of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador and across Canada By investing approximately $4 million to build a new water reservoir and booster station at the Wabush Airport.
On June 1, 2017, Public Services and Procurement Canada on behalf of Transport Canada, awarded a contract worth approximately four million dollars to Cribtec Incorporated to build a new water reservoir and booster station at the Wabush Airport in Newfoundland and Labrador. The contract, which was awarded through an open, fair, and transparent procurement process, will sustain six jobs at Cribtec Incorporated, and will help create local employment opportunities in the Wabush area.
As part of ongoing renovation work to the Wabush Airport, it was identified that the water and sewer system, which was built underneath the parking lot in the 1970’s, needed to be replaced. To ensure that the new water and sewer system meets current standards, a new reservoir and booster station was also needed.
Once complete, the new water reservoir and booster station along with future investments in the airport terminal by the Government of Canada will help ensure the safety of travelers and employees by providing modern and efficient infrastructure.
