April 17, 2019
The Honorable Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Intergovernmental and Northern Affairs & Internal Trade, is pleased to induct ten Labradorians of Distinction at ceremonies across Labrador, starting today, April 17th, 2019, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The Labradorian of Distinction award was created by MP Jones to mark the 150th year of Canadian Confederation and to celebrate the contributions and achievements of Labradorians that have made an outstanding contribution to Labrador culturally, socially, environmentally or economically. This year’s inductees will join the previous 150 Labradorians of Distinction award recipients.
This year’s inductees are as follows:
This year’s inductees include medical professionals, first-responders, public servants, entrepreneurs and community leaders from right across Labrador. Acknowledging outstanding Labradorians and their contributions to the region and our communities is an excellent way to celebrate our collective history and help raise awareness of our deep interconnectedness and history that may otherwise be unknown to each other. MP Jones also wanted to thank members of this year’s selection committee made up of past recipients and community volunteers, who had the important task of evaluating and selecting this year’s inductees.
Labradorians of Distinction Award nominations are now open for 2019. For more information on the award and how nominate and outstanding Labradorian please check out the Labradorians of Distinction website at: https://www.labradoriansofdistinction.com/
