Dear Family and Friends,
I was sorry to hear of the passing of William Barbour this week.
William lived a very full life that consisted of traditional hunting, fishing and wood cutting and a life that he was proud of. He was a man who put his family and the life of the Inuit people ahead of everything.
During his time as President of the Labrador Inuit Association and various roles in the Nunatsiavut Government, William lead great strides in progressing Indigenous and Inuit rights across Labrador. It is this commitment and passion, among his many other wonderful qualities, that will truly be missed.
I am sure that each of you have special memories of William. Hold those memories close to your heart, they will bring peace and comfort in the days ahead.
As you celebrate his life and mourn your loss, please remember that the thoughts and prayers of so many are with you and your family today.
On behalf of the people of Labrador, please accept our deepest condolences.
Sincerely,
Yvonne Jones
MP for Labrador
