MP YVONNE JONES TO HIGHLIGHT FEDERAL FUNDING ON HOPEDALE VISIT
HOPEDALE, NUNATSIAVUT, NL – Member of Parliament for Labrador and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Northern Affairs, Yvonne Jones will visit Hopedale Thursday to meet with the Nunatsiavut Government and discuss federal funding for the Hopedale community and area.
Part of this visit will include the official announcement of the Rapid Housing Initiative project totalling over $5 million for 20 affordable housing units in Hopedale government.
In partnership with the federal government, the Nunatsiavut Government will see to the completion of this project by July 2021.
MP Jones will also highlight the federal government’s continued commitment to community infrastructure in Nunatsiavut communities. This includes the recently announced marine freight storage investment through the Oceans Protections Plan and increased municipal investments under a variety of funding streams throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
To support Indigenous cultural programming, MP Jones will also discuss the strong partnership between the Nunatsiavut Government and the federal government which has brought over $1 million in combined funding for Indigenous sport programming for the foreseeable future.
