MP Jones Highlights Federal Support for Innu First Nation Projects

From economic sustainability to cultural preservation, Indigenous-led projects make a lasting impact in their communities. These projects promote connection among its residents and build a foundation with federal partners to advance important community priorities.
In support of the Innu First Nation and its community-led initiatives, the federal government has provided over $3.5 million in recent funding. Among other important objectives, this includes investments in COVID-19 supports, job growth, economic sustainability, and cultural programming.
Over $300,000 in recent funding is allocated for conservation projects for species at risk and the Learning from Innu Oral Knowledge cultural initiative.
With a strong focus on economic growth and sustainability, in partnership with Innu communities, the federal government has provided close to $900,000 for business development in the region. This includes funding for the fishing sector and broadband connectivity studies.
Other funding allocations have contributed to marine safety and community development.
