A message from the Honourable Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Northern Affairs and to the Minister of National Defence (Northern Defence).
On Remembrance Day, let us remember and honour the brave sacrifices of our Canadian Armed forces. All those lives lost, and those who continue to serve our country. As we take a moment of silence to remember all those who have passed serving their country, we must reflect on the very freedoms and values we are able to enjoy today because of their sacrifice.
We must never take our rights and freedoms as Canadians for granted. Behind each one is a soldier who fought to uphold them.
They’ve made the ultimate sacrifice. For this, we will always remain truly grateful.
This Remembrance Day, let us also remember to show our gratitude for their families. Mothers and fathers, brothers, sisters and children of the Canadian Armed Forces have faced moments of uncertainty and heartbreak over many years so these brave men and women can continue to not only keep our country safe but help others in need overseas.
Let us never forget the sacrifices made by soldiers past that built this country and made our country stronger today.
We thank you; we honour you, today, and every day.
We will remember them.
In Labrador we are proud of our contributions to global peace and security including those through 5 -Wing Goose Bay and the Triple 4 Squadron.
I commend the Royal Canadian Legion for the work you do. Raising up our veterans who deserve the utmost respect and remembrance for their service and sacrifice.
In Canada we acknowledge that all gave some and some gave all.
To the families of our fallen…
To our Veterans…
To current members of our armed forces…
On behalf of the Government of Canada, please accept our profound gratitude for your service and sacrifice.
Lest we forget.
Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Northern Affairs and to the Minister of National Defence (Northern Defence)
