From: The Office of Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador

Today, Labrador MP, Yvonne Jones, expresses pride in the significant new defence funding outlined in Budget 2024. These allocations are seen as a continuation of historic investments made by the government to support members of the Armed Forces, bolster Canada’s defence capabilities, and address global challenges.

As a representative of the Labrador riding, MP Jones, finds particular satisfaction in these investments, which are poised to enhance Canada's security and safeguard its sovereignty in the North. Labrador holds a unique position in Canada's geography, with its expansive and strategically important northern region, and these investments are expected to directly benefit local communities.

The measures outlined in Budget 2024 are projected to raise defence spending from 1.33% to 1.76% of GDP, underscoring the government's dedication to ensuring Canada's security and prosperity. These ongoing investments encompass a variety of initiatives aimed at strengthening different facets of the country's defence capabilities.
